Yates, Clara Louise, age 85, of Blacksburg, VA, departed this life January 10, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her husband Maurice Yates.
She is survived by three children: Raymond Howard Yates and wife Pat of Pilot, VA, Clara Dove of Richmond, VA, and Roger Yates and wife Darlene of Tazwell, VA; five grandchildren: Elise Epperly, Randy Yates, Sandra Lynch, Kim Neal, and Sherry Smith; eleven great grandchildren; and her extended family of friends and staff at Showalter and Kroontje in Warm Hearth Village. Our family wishes to express our appreciation to the staff of Showalter, Kroontje, and Good Samaritan Hospice for their love and kindness shown to our mother during her stay.
Louise was a devoted Christian and attended numerous churches all of her life until her sickness. Louise served as a volunteer for twenty years at Montgomery Regional hospital.
A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday January 13, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Horne Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Meador officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday January 12, 2009 at the funeral home.
