Clalude Miles

MILES, SR., CLAUDE JACKSON, age 97, of Christiansburg, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2006.

He was a veteran having served in the U. S. Army. Claude was son of the late Joseph Jackson and Virginia Alice Wirt Miles. Also preceding him in death his wife of 64 years, Martha Etta Britt Miles; brothers, Henry, Clarence, and Shorty Miles; sisters, Ethel Iddings, Roxie Kingrea, Ora Johnson, Elsie Hall, Ruby Miles, Virginia Bishop, Ruth Wilkerson and Geneva Miles.

He is survived by his sons & daughters-in-law, Claude, Jr. & Janice Miles of Riner; Gilbert & Judy Miles of Radford; J. D. & Donna Miles of Roanoke; Don & Robin Miles of Christiansburg; Bill Miles of St. Augustine, FL; daughters & sons-in-law, Claudette & Jim Burnette; Ruby & Harold Spencer; Henrietta & Charles Keister all of Christiansburg; Reba & Bob Smart of Check; one sister, Cornelia Ann Wiley; 20 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 27 at the Horne Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his daughter, Claudette Burnette.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ellis Meredith and Rev. Dwight Haynes officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post #7854. The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of Heritage Hall and Carilion New River Valley Hospice. The Miles Family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg, 382-2612.
