DUNCAN, CHRISTINE SMITH, age 64, of Christiansburg, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2005 at New River Valley Medical Center.
She was a faithful and dedicated member of Edgemont Christian Church for many years. She was active in the Ladies Aid, CWF and was chair of the Evangelism Committee for several years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Stafford Smith, mother, Versie Altizer and step-father, Arvil Altizer; brothers, Manfred Smith and Bruce Smith.
She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Benson Duncan; one daughter, Rita Duncan of Christiansburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Billy & Donna Biggs of Pilot; three grandsons, James Duncan, Steven Williams and Cody Biggs; one great granddaughter, Wanda Renee Biggs; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Rudolph & Sarah Smith, Bob & Elizabeth Smith and Steve & Dorothy Smith all of Christiansburg; one sister, Jean Akers of Riner; adopted daughter, Shaine and husband, Steve; and son, Logan Anderson; special aunt, Lorene Sutphin, many nieces and nephews.The family wishes to express a very special thank you to Pastor Chris Yopp who has been a special friend and has been with us through her illness.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005 at the Edgemont Christian Church with Rev. Chris Yopp officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Edgemont Christian Church, Mudpike Road, Christiansburg, VA 24073. The Duncan Family is being served by Horne Funeral & Cremation Service, Christiansburg, (382-2612).
