SMITH, CHARLIE EDWARD, JR., age 81 of Christiansburg passed away Thursday, January 13, 2005 at Wythe County Community Hospital.
He was a retired employee of Appalachian Power Company and a member of the Faith Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie E. & Sarah Smith Sr., his first wife, Ruby Smith; two brothers, William Smith and Walter Smith; two sisters, Mildred Hash and Belva Hall. Survivors include his wife, Louise A. Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Gale & Benjamin Lynn of Wytheville; step son and his wife, Bill & Pat Fulcher of Christiansburg; step-daughter and her husband, Nancy & Jack Trump of Christiansburg; sisters & brothers-in-law, Thelma & Earl Epperly; Darlene & Billy Graham and Evelyn Graham; several step-grandchidlren and step great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Howard Sowers.
The family wishes to thank the numerous Doctors and Nurses who provided care for him. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 16th at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Vest officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. Flowers will be appreciated or those wishing to make memorial contributions, please consider Christiansburg Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 176; Christiansburg, VA 24068 or the Church of your choice.
