Charles Lewis Wheeling, 98, of Shawsville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 11, 2012.
Mr. Wheeling retired from N&W Railroad after thirty-five years of service as a welder. He was a member of Seneca Baptist Church in Elliston. He enjoyed gardening, mowing, cutting wood, fishing and bird watching.
He was the son to the late Walter Lewis and Mary Lou Edna Wheeling. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Janie Wheeling Hall, Stella Wheeling Musselman and her husband Jessie; and brother, Lemule Wheeling.
He is survived by his wife of seventy-seven (77) years, Willie (Biddie) Doyle Wheeling; sister-in-law, Helen Doyle Sawyer; nephews, Ottie Hall & wife Edith of Blacksburg, Cecil Hall & wife Pat of Shawsville, Elmer Hall & wife Mammie of Christiansburg; nieces, Betty Lou Hendricks & husband Ed of Bloomington, ID, Thelma Davis of Christiansburg and Mary Ellen Johnson of Shawsville. He is also survived by many great nieces, great nephews and their families.
The family will receive friends at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg on Monday, February 13, 2012, from 5 – 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2012, in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Virgil McHone officiating. Interment will follow in the Wheeling Family Cemetery in Shawsville.
