Charles Ashworth

September 20, 1934 — August 21, 2011

Charles Franklin Ashworth, 76, of Christiansburg, was called home during the early morning hours on Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Lewis-Gale Montgomery Regional Hospital.

He was reunited with the love of his life, his wife of 55 years, Annie Ashworth, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by many brothers and sisters and his beloved son, Dale Ashworth.

Charles is survived by his sisters, Mary Lynch, Pauline Barker, Hazel Hartsock and Madaline Owens. Charles leaves to cherish his memory his son, Donald Ashworth; daughter, Diana Ashworth, both of Christiansburg; son, Doug Ashworth & wife, Lisa of Riner; daughter, Debra Hall & husband, Michael, of Pulaski. Charles also leaves behind grandchildren, Terra Stafford & husband, Chris, Wesley (Wes) Snider, IV, Nicole Lora, Morgan, Faith and Aaron Hall, and Kayla, Kristin and Kara Ashworth; along with great-grandchildren, Kalea, Christopher and Wyatt Stafford. He also leaves behind a host of friends including special friend, Bud Shepherd.


Charles was the owner of Electrical Supply located in the old Cambria section of Christiansburg, which he started in 1972. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Christiansburg and had a tremendous love for God, his family, friends and his church family. Charles had a pure heart of gold, helping his family, friends and his community by his various ways of giving. He had a true love of softball, which showed through the sponsorship of many teams for several decades. He also enjoyed baseball and never missed watching his favorite team, the New York Yankees.


The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg. The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Kenneth Wells and Reverend Dusty Etter officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.

Flowers are appreciated, but the family suggests memorial donations be sent to Bible Baptist Church, 710 Church Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073.

The family would like to thank Hospice for the care given to Charles Ashworth during his illness.

Charles will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
