Billy Crowe

CROWE, Billy Gene, 62, departed this life and immediately entered into the arms of his Savior, Jesus, on Friday, December 16, 2011. He was born on December 14, 1949, in Bristol, Virginia, and was a resident of Christiansburg for forty-six years.
He was an honorary member and served as an active member of the Christiansburg Fire Department for 17 years. He was employed many years for Homer Cox Ford. He attended Sidney United Methodist Church in Riner. Billy had many devoted friends and shared camaraderie of brotherhood with the Christiansburg Fire Department. The department loved and cared for him throughout his great times, but moreover his times of greatest needs. A friend to all, one of a kind warrior who will be deeply missed.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Charles and Beatrice Crowe, Bristol, VA, and a brother, Stephen Crowe, Hickory, NC. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Crowe Schutte and Tony Huddleston, of RIner. His sons, Kevin D. Crowe and wife Shelia Crowe of Riner and Russell G. Crowe, of Floyd, two grandsons, Jarrett K. Schutte and Brodyn P. Huddleston, brothers, Bruce Crowe and wife Carolyn Crowe, Bristol, and Jeffrey Crowe, Tennessee.
He is also survived by his sisters, Charlotte Cochran, Palm Coast, FL, and Linda Miller, Radford one sister-in-law, Carolyn Crowe, Hickory, NC. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, along with special friends to include; Jimmy Williams, Speedy Carroll, Fred Walters, John Schutte, Becky Craighill, Mary Sue West and Stacy Sutphin. The family wishes to thank the staff and doctors of Carilion NRV Medical Center for their valiant efforts and care and Thank you Dr. John Gaylord for providing exceptional physician service for numerous years. There are not enough words to express our gratitude to the Christiansburg Fire Department.
The visitation will be held Sunday December 18th, 2011 from 5pm -8pm at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral service will be held December 19th, 2011 at 11am in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, Christiansburg with Rev. Mark Miller and Rev. Neal Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
