Betty Jane Falta
November 17, 1932- November 1, 2020
Betty, age 87 of Blacksburg, went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, November 1, 2020.
Betty was born on November 17, 1932 to Joseph and Selma (Gross) Falta. She was born in Flint, Michigan growing up with three brothers, Robert, Richard and Bill.
Betty graduated from Duncan U. Fletcher H.S. in Jacksonville, Fl. In 1950 and continued her education from the University of Florida receiving a B.A.E degree in August of 1954. One year before following her brother Richard to Long Island, she taught elementary school in South Jacksonville, Florida. Loving the change of seasons Betty enjoyed her years on Long Island very much. Most of her career was spent teaching in the Sachem Central School District. Retiring in 1993, Betty moved to Blacksburg, VA becoming a VA Tech Hokies Fan through and through. As a member of St. Michaels Lutheran Church, Betty was active with many aspects of the church activities. Three of her favorites were the Ladies weekly prayer group, a time of worship and laughter. The Micah’s Backpack program. Her love and tenderness with children could be seen. Every donation she could supply was a celebration for her. The fact she could go shopping (finding goodies on sale was even better!) was the high point next to sharing for the needs of others.
She was preceded in death by her parents Selma and Joseph Falta and brothers, Robert Falta and Richard Falta.
Her niece would like to thank St. Michael’s Lutheran Church for always being there helping in so many ways. The love they showed touched in ways that only effected a person’s heart. She would also like to express her appreciation to the staff at Kindred Hospice for their tender and loving care.
Betty chose to be created and her ashes to be scattered at the Circle of Faith at St. Michael’s. Any donations could go to St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 2308 Merrimac Road in Blacksburg, Va.
