Bertha (Ann) Dowdy Jones, 70, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 14, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin Dowdy & Bertha Cook Dowdy; and her husband of 39 years, James Jones.
She is survived by her children, Lisa & David Mitchell and Jamie & Leigh Ann Jones; grandchildren, Eden and Caleb Mitchell; her sister, Sue Wirt; and other extended family and friends.
Ann was a dear, sweet woman who was known as Momma, Nannie and Friend. She was the best wife, mom, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 16, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. at the New River Holiness Church, 2455 Peppers Ferry Road, NW, Christiansburg. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 17th at 2 p.m. at New River Holiness Church, with Rev. Everett Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in the Shepherd Family Cemetery, Christiansburg.
The family welcomes flowers, however, anyone wishing to do so may consider a donation in Ann’s name to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
