Arnold Nelson Fowler, 87, of Riner, VA, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, Va.
Arnold was born in Wythe County on May 19, 1924, to the late Nelson Price and Ethel Mabry Fowler. He was preceded in death by son, Kenneth Arnold Fowler; sister, Ruth Shepherd; and brothers, Lewis, Herbert, and Douglas Fowler.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary Frances Dalton Fowler; six daughters and spouses, Donna and Linwood Wadsworth, Brenda and Bernie Wojciechowski, Joyce and Steven Black, Carol and Roger White, Rebecca Partin, Mary and David Hughes; and daughter-in-law, Suguna Fowler. His sister-in-law, Irene Fowler; 13 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren also survive.
Arnold was a WW II veteran. He retired from the Radford Arsenal with over 30 years of service and enjoyed farming, genealogy, going to the livestock market, and talking with family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, from 4-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. service held in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Buford Linkous officiating. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin.
