Alma Epperly

ALMA HODGE EPPERLY, 89 widow of Clarence Austin Epperly (1914-1997), passed away September 26, 2009, at the Roanoke United Methodist Home where she had been a resident since December 1995.

Alma was a faithful member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Christiansburg, the Willing Workers Sunday School Class, Circle 4 and the Quilters. She was the eldest daughter of the late Joseph Hundley and Zella Weeks Hodge.

Alma was predeceased by her brothers, Roy, Coy, John, Wilmer (Bill), Newell and Paul Hodge; her sister, Virginia Hodge; her son-in-law, Bobby H. Cole; granddaughter Tracie Cole; and great granddaughter, Agoshi Lotus Alagna.

Survivors include daughters Judy E. Cole and Connie E. Turner; Tom Bell, friend of the family; grandchildren Stephanie and Stephen Kilby and his daughter, Gracie; Travis Cole and his fiancé, Terra Alagna and her son Blake; Nora and Kevin Tucker and their daughters, Ava and Jillian; Sabrina Cole and her fiancé, Brian Porter and his son, Jackson; and great granddaughter Galen (Cole) Bonney. Other survivors include brothers and sisters and their spouses, Allie Miles, Joyce and William (Bill) Czerniakiewicz of Richmond, Sidney and Shirley Hodge, Carl and Kathy Hodge, Christiansburg; sisters-in-law Katherine Meredith, Polly, Ruby and Virginia Hodge; former son-in-law Charles Turner; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg, VA from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2009. Funeral Services will be conducted from the Horne Funeral Chapel on Monday, September 28, 2009, at 2 PM, with the Reverend Roy Miller, Chaplain, Roanoke United Methodist Home, the Reverend Doug Kanney and Reverend David Goodpasture of St. Paul United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Roanoke United Methodist Home as well as Dr. Ward for their conscientious diligence in the care of our parents. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Samaritan Fund, 1009 Old Country Club Road, NW, Roanoke, VA 24017 in memory of Clarence and Alma Epperly.
