Charlotte Clark

September 19, 1952 — May 1, 2010

Clak, Charlotte Fay, 57, of Blacksburg, Va. entered into eternal life on Saturday, May 1 2010. Charlotte was born in Birmingham, Al. on September 19, 1952.

She traveled extensively throughout her childhood during her father’s service in the Air Force before her family finally settled in Philadelphia, Pa. Shortly before the birth of her only child, Jordan Clark, she moved to Blacksburg, Va. with her sister Michele to start a new life.

Charlotte was, before all else, a dedicated mother. There was no effort she was unwilling to make in raising her son. From elementary school on she chose to home school Jordan so she could instill in him the strong sense of faith and values that she held dear. She did her very best to impart to him all of her wisdom and instill in him the desire to never stop learning.

From an early age Charlotte also demonstrated a passion for arts and crafts. She loved to create decorative items that would bring beauty and color to her surroundings. Never content to stop learning, she mastered numerous crafting skills. She was an expert at quilting, crocheting, paper craft, woodworking, jewelry making, painting, and many other crafts. She created many works of her own design and loved crafting anything unique and original.

She had a love of cooking. While growing up, she would prepare many of the meals for her family and developed a flair for cooking. She would later become known for preparing exotic specialty dishes and creating unique recipes of her own. She also loved to sing and play the piano.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Rev. Herbert Vanallen Clark and Doris Audrey Strong Clark, and her nephew, Christopher Holmes. She leaves to rejoice in her memory her devoted son, Jordan Christopher Clark of Blacksburg, Va.; sister and brother-in-law, Michele Clark Holmes and Glen A. Holmes of Christiansburg, Va.; brother and sister-in-law, Vann A. Clark and Cindy Fortado Clark of St. Louis, Mo; nephews Jonathan Holmes of Christiansburg, Va., Brian Clark and Brandon Clark of St. Louis, Mo., and niece Marie Clark of St. Louis, Mo. She will also be missed by her close friends Myra Badger, Carol Teele, Tammy Trussler, and Tawana Logan, and a host of other friends and family.

Memorial services will be conducted at Horne Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Saturday May 8, 2010. The family will receive visitors two hours prior to the service at Horne Funeral Chapel, 1300 N. Franklin St. Christiansburg, Va., 540-382-2612.
