  • What Do I Do When A Death Occurs?

    In a Hospital, Nursing Home, or other facility....


    When a death occurs in a facility, let the staff know that you want Horne Funeral Service to assist the family.  They will contact us when they are ready for us to come.


    At home under hospice care...


    When a death occurs at home under hospice care, call the hospice nurse and they will come out to the house.  When the family is ready, the hospice nurse will contact us.


    At home....


    When a death occurs at home and hospice is not involved, call 911.  Make the first responders aware  that you want to have Horne Funeral Service  assist the family and they will notify us.

  • What do I bring with me to the funeral home for arrangements?

    Please bring the following:


    -Clothing


    -A picture for the obituary (if desired)


    -Biographical information about the deceased (see our Preplanning Form to see what information is needed)


    -Insurance policy (If you plan to use this as a form of payment)


    -Military discharge papers - DD 214 (if applicable)


    If you are unable to find some of the information or items above, we will be glad to assist in helping you. 

  • Where do your cremations take place?

    Our cremations occur here at the funeral home, this ensures that your loved one never leaves our care. 

  • What does a funeral cost?

    Funeral costs are unique to each person depending on the services you select.   Funeral home costs consist of three components; funeral services, merchandise, & cash advances.  Funeral services include making necessary arrangements, transportation, funeral or memorial services, embalming,etc..  Merchandise items may include, casket,vault, cremation urn, register book, etc... Cash advance items may include cemetery charges, certified death certificates, obituary, etc... 



  • What are my options when a death occurs?

    When a death occurs, many decisions need to be made in a short amount of time.  Some of these decisions may include:


    - What will the final disposition be for my loved one, Cremation or Burial?


    - What type of services does my family need?


    - Do we want a visitation?


    - Should we have the service in a church or Horne Funeral Home  Chapel?


    - Do we want to place an obituary in the newspaper?


    -Who do we want to officiate the service?


    These are all questions that we will assist you with when we sit down to make arrangements

  • Who will help me with Veteran's benefits, Social Security, life insurance claims, etc...?

    Our staff will help you obtain any benefits that you are entitled to.  We will notify the Veterans Administration and make sure everything is received from them as well as notify Social Security for you.  We also have licensed insurance specialists on staff to assist in filing any claims or answering any questions for you or your family. 

  • Is prearranging a good idea?

    What happens when we fail to plan anything in our lives? Dinner?  a weekend getaway? a birthday party?  We end up with less than desirable outcomes in a lot of cases.  Preplanning a funeral is no different.  We offer a preplanning program that will allow you to make these difficult decisions in advance and place them in a file here.  This ensures that your wishes are carried out and relieves the burden from your family.  There is no cost or obligation to preplan and we encourage every family to give us a call and get this information today.
