Steven Glovier Hall

Steven Glovier Hall passed away Wednesday May 31, 2017, at Lewis Gale Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends.

Steve was born on December 6, 1941 in Radford Virginia, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hall of Radford, Va. Steve retired from General Electric in Salem Va. and continued to enjoy his connections with GE friends at the monthly breakfast gatherings. Steve was a member of the Riner Volunteer Fire Department where he proudly served as #406 for 45 years, previously holding position as Fire Chief and serving in other capacities. Steve was also actively involved as a member of the SW VA Firefighters Association, where he enjoyed many conventions, Old Dominion Historical Fire Society, New River Valley Classic Cruisers, Model A Club, and Falcon Club. Over the years he enjoyed collecting and restoring classic cars and traveling to various car shows with family and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Ercille Hall. Surviving is his wife, Joyce Hall; daughter, Melissa “Missy” Good (Russ); grandsons, Griffin and Cameron, stepdaughter, Jessica (Tom); and granddaughters, Kara and Kadence, Also surviving is his sister, Kay Duncan (Neil); and many special nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Steve was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and grandfather affectionately known as “GeGe”.

The family extends a special thank you to the Riner Volunteer Fire Department, Mike and Kim Moles, Mac and Lilly Gallimore, Laura Gilley and the Gentiva Group, and the many friends and family who have been so supportive during this difficult time.

If we are judged by heroism, service and courage, then Steve Hall was truly a giant among men. His life was a lesson in selfless service to others and many lives are better for having known him. Through his physical struggles he never lost his sense of humor and zest for life.

Visitation will be Friday, June 2, 2017, from 5-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Auburn Baptist Church, with Rev. Neal Turner and Chaplain Kenny Hancock officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
